Events & Sound Baths

Gatherings for rest, ritual, sound and coming back to yourself.

From simple monthly gong meditations to deeper overnight retreats, The Anam Cara events are created as gentle spaces to pause, soften, breathe and reconnect.

A softer way to gather

The Anam Cara events are gentle spaces for slowing down.

You do not need to know how to meditate. You do not need to arrive feeling peaceful. You do not need to do anything perfectly.

These gatherings are an invitation to pause, breathe, soften, and let sound meet you where you are.

Some events are simple and accessible, like our monthly community gong meditations. Others are deeper and more immersive, like our overnight retreat at Brinkburn. Each one is held with care, clarity and space for you to reconnect with yourself.

A choice-led space

The Anam Cara events are held as gentle, choice-led spaces.

You are welcome to lie down, sit up, keep your eyes open, move gently, step out if needed, or simply rest. There is no forced sharing, no pressure to have a certain kind of experience, and no expectation to explain what comes up for you.

Sound can be deeply relaxing, but it can also stir emotion, memory or sensation. You are always encouraged to listen to your own body, take things at your own pace, and seek appropriate support if anything feels too big to hold alone.

These events are not therapy, medical treatment or crisis support.

Before you book

Please contact me before booking if you are pregnant, have sound-triggered epilepsy, have a pacemaker or serious heart condition, are currently experiencing acute mental health crisis, or are unsure whether sound meditation is suitable for you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience with meditation or sound baths?

No. You do not need any experience. You are welcome to simply lie down or sit comfortably and receive the sound.

What happens during a gong bath?

You will be invited to settle comfortably, usually lying down or seated. The session begins with a short grounding meditation before moving into a sound journey using gong and gentle instruments. You may feel relaxed, sleepy, emotional, spacious, thoughtful or simply rested. There is no right or wrong experience.

Are mats and blankets provided?

For the monthly Newton Hall sessions, no. Please bring your own mat, blanket, pillow, water and anything you need to feel comfortable. For retreat events, please check the specific event page for what is provided.

Can I come alone?

Yes. Many people come alone. The space is gentle, welcoming and low-pressure.

Can I pay on the door for monthly gong baths?

Yes, if there is space. Advance booking is £10 and recommended. On-the-door spaces are £12 and cannot be guaranteed.

What if I am late?

For the monthly Newton Hall sessions, arrival is between 7:00pm and 7:10pm. Doors are locked at 7:10pm so the session can begin quietly and without disruption. Late entry is not available once doors are locked.

Is this therapy?

No. These events are not therapy, counselling, medical treatment or crisis support. They are wellbeing and sound meditation spaces.

What if I feel emotional afterwards?

Sound can sometimes bring emotion or sensation to the surface. You are encouraged to take your time, drink water, ground yourself gently and reach out for appropriate support if needed. Post-session check-ins may be shared through The Anam Cara Circle.
